Microsoft Partners with Abcomrents for HoloLens Rental Scheme

HoloLens has been around long enough and been powerful enough that it’s easy to overlook the device is still in development. Microsoft says it will launch the device entirely so expect the firm to ramp up partnerships and development this year. To this end, Microsoft says it has teamed with screen seller Abcomrents.

The statement follows Microsoft’s wide announcements for HoloLens made this month. In an effort to boost business-use for Windows Mixed and the headset Reality, Microsoft will appear to work with businesses.

Abcomrents operates in North America and is an expert in leasing LCD video walls, touch screen displays, kiosks, and other display-centered products. Microsoft says clients in North American will be able to rent HoloLens out of Abcomrents, along with other markets to start in coming weeks.

“Leasing HoloLens may be the best remedy to inspire attendees in the event, develop an app, or for longer term testing and use. It is possible to rent HoloLens for a brief period of time or evaluate prior to buying through one of our regional partners”

Renting HoloLens is definitely an interesting prospect considering the device is expensive to purchase. Microsoft sells a $ 3,000 development variant two suits plus a commercial variant. Neither is cheap, therefore more businesses are going to be able to get the device through rental means.

Mixed Reality Recap
