HoloLens Gets Competition with All the Magic Leap Lightwear Place to Launch in 2018
Microsoft mostly gets the augmented reality market to itself using HoloLens. Tech rivals have largely researched virtual reality, while Microsoft has tied up several OEMs into Windows Mixed Truth. But, HoloLens is not yet consumer ready and there is a brand new player in the city. Magic Leap has introduced its “creator version” augmented reality system, the Lightwear.

Can HoloLens 2.0 utilize Snapdragon 845 rather than Microsoft’s custom processor?

Microsoft’s custom HPU

The HPU is a 28nm custom-designed TSMC-fabricated coprocessor. It’s 8MB of SRAM as well as organized in 12 clusters, are 24 Tensilica DSP cores. It also has 65 million logic gates and is still capable of doing one trillion calculations per minute. Before settling to the Tensilica cores, which were selected due to their flexibility, Microsoft entertained other options. Those other chips didn’t fulfill Microsoft’s goals for overall performance, yet. Microsoft finally added 300 custom directions to the Tensilica cores.
All this tech talk only suggests the HPU was critical to making the HoloLens that the only fully self-contained holographic wearable computer. It seems that Microsoft is dedicated to driving this invention ahead in HoloLens 2.0.
HoloLens 2.0 and HPU 2.0
In July of the year Marc Pollefeys, Director of Science for Microsoft’s HoloLens division, said):
Today, Harry Shum, executive vice president of the Artificial Intelligence and Research Group, announced in a keynote address at CVPR 2017, the next version of the HPU, now under development, will comprise an AI coprocessor to and optionally execute DNNs. The chip supports a huge variety of layer forms, completely programmable by us. Harry showed an early spin of the next version of the HPU running live code alongside hands segmentation.
So as of July 2017, the HoloLens 2.0 is sporting the next version of Microsoft’s custom HPU which will also contain, as has been previously reported, an AI coprocessor.
Why write this bit?
Qualcomm’s 845 announcement included a variety of capacities this chip will empower. Immersive AR experiences was one of these experiences. Given that we are hoping to find that the 845 in new apparatus from 2018, some might feel that’s plenty of time for your chip to replace the custom made HPU at a 2019 second-generation HoloLens. However, Microsoft is dedicated to the custom made HPU with integrated AI chops.
Augment your reality

Magic Leap’s futuristic headset has the same limitation as Microsoft’s HoloLens

Searching through Magic Leap One’s Lightwear eyeglasses, you can manage your email or appear YouTube videos or some other stuff you would normally do on a smartphone or computer. Rather than looking down in a display, it is projected in to the field of view.
You know the film “Minority Report”? It is kind of outdated at this time, but if you’ve seen it you might recall Tom Cruise using a computer that is essentially projected to the world facing him.
Magic Leap’s headset is comparable, and it goes where you go.

Franc succès pour une opération chirurgicale réalisée avec l’aide de Hololens
Une opération de chirurgie assistée par le casque HoloLens p Microsoft a été effectuée aujourd’hui. Il s’agit d’une grande première mondiale, qui s’est en avec succès en France.
Un casque p réalité mixte qui aide les médecins dans une intervention chirurgicale, c’est la première fois que ça arrive et probablement pas la dernière. Un chirurgien a en effet été aidé level HoloLens, le casque p réalité mixte de Microsoft que j’avais testé l’an dernier, pour réaliser la present d’une prothèse d’épaule. L’opération s’est déroulée cet après-midi à l’hôpital Avicenne en France. Retransmise cet après-midi sur YouTube, elle a été un franc succès même si la technologie actuelle montre encore quelque peu sa limite. Si vous n’avez pas froid aux yeux.
Le Dr Thomas Gregory, chef du support orthopédique et traumatologique à l’hôpital Avicenne à Bobigny vanter d’être le premier médecin àêtre assisté par un casque de réalité mixte pour effectuer une intervention chirurgicale. Le médecin ainsi que ses confrères ont pu voir travers la peau de la patiente les muscles, les vaisseaux sanguins nerfs pour réaliser la present d’épaule à une patiente octogénaire. Ses tissus, affichés en trois dimensions sur les lentilles du casque p réalité mixte en temps mais proviennent en réalité des scanners et radiographies level la patiente. Le seul problème finalement provient p la patiente endormie qui pourraient décaler quelque peu les éléments projetés de la réalité, mais des pistes pour contourner ce sont déjà en.
Cette opération relève tout de même p l’exploit puisque les médecins disposent, grâce à ce casque, de pratiquement toute les informations nécessaires pour réaliser correctement l’opération : emplacement des nerfs, des différents tissus,… de plus, toutes les autres données médicales de la patiente sont directement accessibles depuis le casque. On que ce premier essai ne sera pas le dernier. Le Dr Gregory pense que ce type de technologie pourrait constituer une véritable aide dans le futur. De boy côté, il s’pour Microsoft d’un joli coup de bar qui laisse un peu rêveur !

Microsoft empieza a vender las HoloLens en España
Casi dos años después de su lanzamiento en EEUU, las HoloLens llegan a España. Microsoft ha comenzado la comercialización de sus gafas de realidad mixta en nuestro país, que tendrán un precio inicial de 3.299 euros.
Las HoloLens están disponibles en la tienda on line de Microsoft en dos versiones: Development Edition y Commercial Suite. La versión para desarrolladores costará3.299 euros, mientras que la comercial tiene un precio de 5.489 euros, informa Microsoft Insider.
La Development Edition se dirige a los desarrolladores e incluye documentación, tutoriales y acceso a foros de la comunidad para obtener el soporte necesario para crear nuevas soluciones basadas en la realidad mixta.
En cuanto a la versión Commercial Package, está enfocada a empresas de desarrollo. Además de las características del modelo Improvement de características empresariales para conseguir una mejor administración de seguridad y dispositivos. Funcionan con el sistema operativo Windows 10.
En una versión u otra, lo cierto es que el dispositivo de realidad mixta de Microsoft sólo estará al alcance de desarrolladores y empresas con cierto potencial económico. A cambio del desembolso, la compañía de Redmond promete “el primer ordenador holográfico autónomo del mundo”.
Microsoft también ha avanzado que está trabajando para incorporar a las HoloLens algunas de las actualizaciones de software más demandadas por los clientes actuales. A este fin una actualización a principios del año próximo.
El dispositivo de realidad mixta de Microsoft ya está disponible desde 3.299 euros para desarrolladores y por 5.489 euros en la versión para empresas.

Microsoft maakt Surface Pro LTE en HoloLens at Benelux beschikbaar
Ik bedoel, 3-5,5 duizen euro voor een holo lens is wel erg overdreven, je koopt voor 1000 euro iets vergelijkbaars (satisfied meer fov lol) bij een bedrijf als Vuzix, plak er een 3d detector op (nog 500 euro als je voor iets goeds gaat) moet je wel zelf wat werk verzetten voor de software, maar toch, scheelt alweer 1500 euro, en geloof maar dat je meer mag in je eigen omgeving dan at hun sdk

Bhu, ‘slechts’ 1500 eur korting voor een bric- brac ineengeknutselde oplossing waar je geheid nog extra onderhoud aan hebt i.p.v. een getunede oplossing a la de HoloLens… Dan is het voor bedrijven en zelfstandige devs een no-brainer om gewoon voor de HoloLens te gaan. De 1500 EUR directe korting winnen ze zo terug.
Ik doel dan ook meer op thuis gebruik / diy oplossingen om minder duur uit te zijn.
Ik wil best gebruik gaan maken van AR, helemaal als dat in een Baths omgeving kan, maar voor dat geld ga ik me er echt nog niet mee bezig houden, wat ik voorstel is nog steeds duur, maar alweer de helft goedkoper, aan de ene kant zeg ik daarmee dat je het zelf dus goedkoper kan, aan de andere kant zeg ik ermee dat het volgens mij voor microsoft dan ook goedkoper kan

Zelf fulfilled de hololens mogen spelen. Wat viel dat even zeg. De beelden die geprojecteerd werden op television waren een stuk mooier dan de beelden die je in de zag. Zie dit dan ook geen succes worden.

Ik vind de surface een lijn that was super, maar met prijzen mogen ze wel zorgen dat de basis version 8GB RAM heeft.
Prima ding, over p modem, maar hebben ze het gekapt? 4×4 MiMo, Want p x16 ondersteunt 4x20MHzmax van 1Gbps.
Als ze dat gekapt hebben naar 3CA bijvoorbeeld, dan hal je niet het maximale snelheid van T-Mobile of 4CA providers.
Is p WiFi processor at dit generatie wel beter? Of het zelfde van de Surface Pro 4 lijn?

Ik blijf het jammer vinden dat de surface zo hoog in zn prijs zit. Vind het een erg mooi apparaat maar heb er het geld niet voor over. Ik kan ook niet wachten tot je een xbox one twenty kan kopen satisfied hololens bundel

Hij denkt dat je SSD net zo snel is als je RAM, dat het een volwaardig substituut is.

Dat kan je met minder geheugen af dan als je een 150MB/s HD hebt omdat het swappen gewoon sneller gaat.

SpoekGTi doelt ook op RAM denk ik, echter als RAM te weinig is, moet er geswapped worden. En dat gaat sneller op een ssd dan op een hdd.

6GB swappen kost je op een acceptabele SSD als je keer zou moeten doen wat niet gebeurd desire de exchange gebeurt dynamisch een 12 seconden waar je met traditionele disk al gauw een minuut onderweg bent als het niet meer is.

Ik bedoelde ook het ram, maar je hebt een disk nodig om te swappen en gezien SSDs relatief veel sneller zijn dan een normale disk valt het swappen naar een ssd dus veel minder op en is het minder hinderlijk voor eind gebruiker

Nadeel van dat swappen op een SSD is wel dat dit veel schrijf acties oplevert wat de levensduur van de SSD behoorlijk kan bevloeden. Als je daarbij ook rekening houd dat er vaak geen high end SSD chips bij kant en klare producten worden gebruikt is dit misschien wel een puntje waar je rekening moet houden.
Blijf onthouden dat geheugen er net zo niet kan zijn he? Met Win 10 op, en Spoek heeft gelijk met een SSD merk je.

Microsoft maakt HoloLens officieel beschikbaar in Nederland
Microsoft maakte vrijdag bekend de beschikbaarheid van de HoloLens uit te breiden naar nog eens 29 landen, waaronder Nederland. De augmentedrealitybril projecteert digitale informatie bovenop de echte wereld.
De bril beschikbaar in twee versies. De Developer Edition van 3299 euro en d Commercial Suite van 5489 euro. Laatstgenoemde heeft dezelfde hardware, maar biedt extra’s, zoals extra beveiliging en voor apparaatbeheer.
Voorheen was de HoloLens al beschikbaar in de Verenigde Staten en later ook in Duitsland, Frankrijk en het Verenigd Koninkrijk. De bril is nu ook verkrijgbaar voor ontwikkelaars in België en Luxemburg.
Er is nog geen consumentenversie van de HoloLens uitgebracht. Het is niet duidelijk wanneer die op de markt komt, al gaan er dat het pas in 2019 gebeurt.
Kunstmatige intelligentie
Microsoft maakte in juli dit jaar bekend dat het bedrijf aan een nieuwe versie van de HoloLens werkt. Die wordt voorzien van een speciale coprocessor voor kunstmatige intelligentie (AI).
Moet information that is Hiermee voor netwerken verwerkt kunnen worden, die op termijn leren om beter te verwerken. De HoloLens kan leren om bijvoorbeeld beter bepaalde objecten te herkennen.
