Kipman, who generated HoloLens, states that the smartphone is already dead and people simply don’t understand it yet. The HoloLens employs Mixed Reality to be formed by a mix of real and virtual worlds. The real world appears as the background in AR (Augmented Reality) while the virtual world clearly appears in Virtual Reality images. In accordance with Kipman, little smartphone and tv screens will be substituted with wearable holographic devices such as a smartglass screen.
Windows Insider Dona Sakar has similar emotions although she is seeing things from the smartphone. Saying that she enjoys her Lumia 950 XL she realizes a smartphone is just a single category of a group that encompasses mobile devices. Just like Kipman, Sakar sees Microsoft developing a screenless version of a smartphone which takes over for the handset.
Would not that be ironic, and a great come from behind victory for Microsoft if the Surface Telephone turns out to be this type of item? There likely would be great reluctance to give up the smartphone but that may be anticipated anytime a enormous technological change is imminent. And unlike most smartphones, there does not seem to be too many different techniques to differentiate between the item.
Considering Google Glass was fairly much a consumer collapse and the smartphone still rules the roost, this sounds like science fiction. But we have gone from featurephones to smartphones and are now moving toward AR established smartglasses. As said from the Titanic film, “it is a mathematical certainty.”
